ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WTVD) -- Investigators say a man wanted in a Columbus County murder and facing additional murder charges in connection with a double homicide in Roanoke Rapids is in custody.

Early Saturday morning, the Wake County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Eric Lamont Martin Jr.

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department (RRPD) said earlier this week that Faircloth is a suspect in the June 22 deaths of Patrick Faircloth and Maraiah Thompson.

Detectives have been working with the Columbus County Sheriff's Office to determine whether the Roanoke Rapids killings are connected to a separate murder that occurred in Columbus County on June 11.

Roanoke Rapids police have also charged a second person, Isaiah Cooper, in connection with the investigation. Cooper was arrested July 1 and is charged with two counts of accessory after the fact and one count of obstruction of justice.

Investigators said the case has required extensive coordination and resources as agencies work to determine the connection between the two homicide investigations.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police say additional information may be released as the case develops.

Anyone with information about Martin's whereabouts or either investigation is asked to contact the Roanoke Rapids Police Department at 252-533-2810, Halifax Central Communications at 252-583-1991, or Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444. Callers can remain anonymous.
